Historic Campus Walking Tour

The Historic Campus Walking Tour grew out of Professor Leif Fredrickson’s Local History class, where more than twenty students dove into campus history, uncovering fascinating stories and creatively turning them into an engaging, interactive walking tour. After lots of research, writing, practice, and revisions, student Paige Moriarty teamed up with UM’s communications crew and the Downtown Missoula Partnership’s popular “Unseen Missoula” walking tour program to officially launch the tour.

Thanks to this collaborative effort, the Historic Campus Walking Tour is now a regular fall event welcoming new students and their families, strengthening the connection between UM, the History Department, and the vibrant Missoula community. You can check out tour dates and more info on the Unseen Missoula website.

This is one of several projects to come out of the broader Griz130 Project, which seeks to understand our communicate our institution’s important history.
